Wow, that was what someone actually said to me and a colleague in a meeting recently and boy did it hit me!!
Do people really think that age is such a massive thing within “business”??
Are we really living in a world where someone who is “young” and successful a bad thing? (I wouldn’t class myself as successful yet or young!)
I would say I’m youngish (even though my hair lines tells another story), but because I’m not “old” does that really mean I’m any less capable than someone say 20 years my senior?
I have and still do work my ARSE off to make sure I know my market, clients, product and competitors so that we are ahead of the game and because of that my age surely shouldn’t be a factor, should it?
In some ways it was a nice comment, the prospect must have thought I knew what I was on about and a little taken back when they heard how old I was.
Who cares how old someone is? If you know your stuff you know your stuff!
I’m only getting older so this won’t be happening for too much longer and you know what they say “NEVER judge a book by it’s cover”
